Valentine’s day is coming to Middle-Earth! Join the celebrations, as we celebrate tales of love all across the land. Whether you already have found that special someone in your life or are still looking for him/her, take part of the festivities and spread the love.
Serenades and Songs
Get inspired by the Song of Beren and Luthien, as there’s nothing better then music to speak of love! Find yourself a lute and sing to your lover, to all the ladies at the Pony, or even better, get paid to sing for someone else.
My little hobbit Cassyan used to offer her minstrel services in exchange of a few coins, and made quite a nice pile of gold out of it! Visit our Music Guides if you’re looking to learn how to become a LOTRO musician. Here are some of her favourite love songs, with lyrics and ABC music sheets. Feel free to adjust the lyrics to your own story!
Sweet Rose of Allendale: ABC by Dalman, Lyrics
Star of the County Down: ABC by Thorsongori, Lyrics
Scarborough Fair: ABC by Thorsongori, Lyrics
The Blacksmith: ABC by Makalaure, Lyrics
Bells of Aberdovy: ABC by Keptwise, Lyrics
Greensleeves: ABC by Jazriel, Lyrics
Gifts and Flowers
And don’t forget to send your lover or friend a present to celebrate! Apart from the traditional flower arrangements made by cooks or easily available on the AH, you could also come up with a gift of your own. High level crafter items, when crit, allows you to inscribe a note on the object. It’s the perfect way to seal your love in a piece of jewelry or dedicate a weapon to your special friend. Other great gifts could also be cosmetic items from Skirmish vendors. And of course, remember there’s no better to say ‘’I love you’, than saying it with a pie!

Look out, the RIAA will sue you for distributing those lyrics and ABC files! No, wait, they can’t…because you used public-domain folk songs.
One way to battle the Intellectual Property juggernaut is to mine the public domain for gems such as these. Well done!
