It was just the other week that I went over the classes of Monster Play, however I still think that there is still something that needs to be covered; and that is making sure you choose the Monster Class that is right for you. There is nothing wrong with going through the different classes and trying them out. In fact, a number of regular Monster Players have multiple classes they play depending on the situation or how they are feeling. However, as a new player make sure to watch how many of your Destiny Points that you spend before investing too much time in one particular class. The reason is that Destiny Points are the main currency that you will be using to purchase traits and skills and you don’t want to go around spending them all before you settle on the class that is right for you.
Case in point. Last week I persuaded my wife to come along with me into "The ‘moors" and we were lucky enough that it was a fairly active night with an open raid going on. Now, earlier in the night before she joined up I had been a part of the raid with my warg and I was having a fairly miserable time. I was dying quite a bit, running back to the group, dying on the way there, running back, dying… Well you get the idea. However, when she joined I was logging in with my Black Arrow and she just so happened to create a warg.
A couple of nights later when we were talking I had mentioned that she had caught me right as I was switching characters. She asked me why I had changed. I informed her of my many deaths and how I had grown too frustrated to continue as a warg.
She thought about it for a little bit and said, "That makes sense. When you play a melee character you like to be up in someone’s face. I bet you were having problems managing when to use your sneak and sprint skills and when not to." And she was correct, I was. I was very frustrated by the warg’s inability to initially move quickly stealthed and had found myself using my ability to sprint and sneak intermittently while traveling to and with the group. Thus it ended up when the time came for me to stealth or run away in a combat situation, I did not have the ability to do so.
However, with the Black Arrow I didn’t have that problem. I could hang back away from the front lines quite a distance and found that several times when we were attacked from the sides or behind that my initial distance was usually just far enough for me to survive. I didn’t have to worry about being up front or managing skills that would ensure that I would actually survive and it just suited me quite well.
While for my wife, she does exceptionally well as a character that relies upon sneaking and the strategies that surround it.
My point is, if you should find yourself delving into Monster Play and you are absolutely miserable; try giving another class a try. It could be that what you thought would be fun doesn’t quite suit your actual play style. I mean, this is PvMP and not PvE so playing your regular role as tank, DPS, or healer may not apply in this situation. Also keep in mind that creeps are somewhat nerfed initially in comparison to max level player characters, which can also attribute to some frustration as well. Lastly, hold off on purchasing too many things with Destiny Points until you find a class that suits you. Otherwise you may find yourself running just a tad short when you finally gain that new rank.

I learned super fast not to blow my sprint. My very first time on a warg they put me out front without any advice. I died so many times I told them I stunk at a warg, lol. When you start traiting wargs up you get a decreased CD timer for sprint and a better stealth. Makes them awesome.
Now I’m itching to roll a warg on Crickhollow ….

Just a side-note:
One thing that I found out when I was in the moors was that most of my kinnies plays a creepclass similar to their freep. A few burgs plays sneaky wargs, a cappy play a warleader, a LM fancys playing a weaver and most of the hunters plays BA’s. Even a guy with a minstrel as main rolled a defiler in order to help healing or whatever they do. Obviously its easier to adapt to a similar class, even if they fight for the dark forces of Angmar.

I learned really fast that the Spider was not for me at all. Which doesn’t surprise me as I never jived well with the Loremaster either.

We have several people in our kin who have started playing Creepside. If I were to do it I would play BA just because I do well as a hunter. Still. . . I just can’t do it. I am a Freep through and through.

“keep in mind that creeps are somewhat nerfed initially in comparison to max level player characters” – lol, understatement of the year. The only freeps you can kill 1v1 initially as a rank-0 is an afk one.(or one who wanders into the moors at less than lvl 65)
Even if you cant get into an open raid, you can still find out where they are by listening to the OOC channel and follow them around as if you were in the raid. Just attack whatever they seem to be attacking and as long as you deal some damage at all, and the freep dies, you’ll get a little trickle of infamy. That will slowly help you get to the next rank. (it helps if you are a ranged character though, since you wont get heals to survive all the aoe that gets dropped on the melee creeps in the raid.)
