Bullroarer: Lost Temple Instance Run

February 28, 2011

General

Last night a few writers of CSTM were able to meet up together on Bullroarer to run one of the new instances. We chose the Lost Temple instance simply because that is where Goldenstar happened to be and was able to muster everyone. Remember that you need to visit the instance locations before you can do them!

Lost Temple

The Lost Temple is an instance located in the Trollshaws. It is a level 65 instance meant for a 6-man fellowship and is heavy on disease. Stack up on disease pots before even thinking about entering!

We were able to live stream our run including our wipes – hey it’s new to us too you know. In case you were not able to join us live we have the videos available for you to watch! It is broken up into two videos. We broke it up because we couldn’t hear Merric’s audio. The first video takes you right up to the doorstep of the first boss. The second video (with Merric’s audio fixed) shows the rest of the instance.

Our fellowship consisted of:

  • Elborigorn on his Warden
  • Ketani on her Captain
  • Kiarane on her Hunter
  • Bryandt on his Champion
  • Merric on his Guardian
  • Goldenstar on her Minstrel

CSTM Run of The Lost Temple – Part 1

CSTM Run of The Lost Temple – Part 2

If you like these types of things, we could see about organizing more and let everyone know about it in advance. We weren’t sure if this is interesting to you at all so feel free to speak up!

You might try using XSplit for the live broadcasts. It’s a new product currently in beta. Very lightweight and easy to use. It also won’t give you audio problems like the ones you had ;)

The audio problems was only with Merric (the rest of ventrilo could be heard). We could hear him in vent, but it wasn’t broadcasting on the live stream. I think the issue was a fairly easy fix of him changing his output. We just didn’t realize the audience couldn’t hear him (you actually hear us testing near the end of the video).

I really like the idea of posting instance videos.
Would it pe possible to post these in a non-flash version?

I am unsure. The videos we are taking are too large for us to export to YouTube which supports HTML5. I can certainly try though!

This is a fantastic addition! I’d love to see more instance run vids at high level, and to see different classes, maybe even from their point of view to get a feel for the gameplay? Could I suggest runekeeper? :)

I was able to upload them all to YouTube but it split it into 7 videos (due to length). But these should be flash free and able to be viewed on your iOS device.

Here is the link to Part 1! They are all named the same with a part number of 7 in the title.

They may not be available immediately for iphone/ipod use. I JUST added them but they should be soon.

Thanks for the post, just makes me that much more excited for the patch. Firefoot has been a graveyard lately and the patches are like the first spring rains in the desert and life comes springing back. Should be fun. Any hints/words about a potential date for the patch. Our server has been laggier than normal which is usually indicative of an incomming patch…

Also, love the video concept, but could use some post processing and narration. I have a microsoft video editing software so I make pretty videos of my kids for the grandparents and it enables you to cut, narrate, mix sound, etc.

BTW what is with Merric always failing on FMs? :)

Hey, if you’re going to do it, you might as well record it! I’m sure a lot of people were curious to see this place.

I would watch more of these if you make them. I’ve watched several instance videos before but I lose interest after a short time. It’s made more enjoyable to have voices that I recognize from your podcast in the audio.

When watching the video I occasionally found myself trying to change the camera angle or click on something on screen. Lol. I forget I’m not actually on Lotro.

This was very fun – especially with the audio. I enjoyed your wipes a lot – happens to me all the time, so I was interested in how you guys analyzed what was working and what was not

and yes – recognizing your voices and hearing that instead of a slamming heavy metal sound track was great too!
