The Echoes of the Dead update will have five new instances. There is one new raid, two small fellowship and two full fellowship instances. The areas are tied to the Mysterious Relic locations.
Unfortunately, I don’t have my level 65 on Bullroarer and I’m unable to enter any of these new dungeons and two of them were too difficult for my bullroarer character to even get to. To add to the difficulty, I asked Merric to login to take photos with his level 65 and his character refuses to load. At least I can say I honestly tried. They seriously need to wipe the servers…
Here are photos I was able to obtain and links to photos Bryandt was nice enough to share in our patch notes post. Feel free to share photos of your own as well! You can click on the images I do have to get a bigger view of the entrance!
Update 12:00pm: Ketani was awesome enough to go and collect more images! I’ve added them to this post for your enjoyment. Thank you Ketani!

The instances are tied to the quest pack for the area that they are in. They will be free content for those who already own the quest pack and to VIPs (nothing additional to buy).
Update 3:30pm: Sapience has looked into owning these instances and they are not tied to the quest pack for the zone they are in but are in fact all included in the Enedwaith quest pack!
Upon further review the only area you will need to own the quest pack for is Enedwaith. As long as you have purchased that quest pack (or are a VIP) all of the instances and the raid listed above are unlocked for you.
So instead of needing to purchase 5 quest packs, you need only purchase 1.
In addition, there is a special instance quest arc “In Their Absence” that is part of the Enedwaith region quest pack.
I expect there to be an upcoming dev diary about these new instance with more detail but thought that folks might be interested in knowing what is coming!

Any word yet on how the new armor is obtained from these new instances?
February 10, 2011 at 9:30 am
I do not know (my level 43 on bullroarer has access to almost nothing) but I’m certain it will work by token system like past instances. I would guess they add a new token for this tier of instances.

Doc has some photos of Ost Dunhoth on LOTRO Stratics.

Something your 43 can test is Annuminas scaled to 43.. It now starts at 40!
February 10, 2011 at 11:52 am
Wow! I think I might have to install the test server again, I would love to get an early look at the new dungeons.

Do you need to discover all relic locations to gain access to these instances, or just the relic near the respective instance?
February 10, 2011 at 12:36 pm
I honestly do not know. There are discussions on the forums of deed gating but it appears to be discovery based and not directly tied to the relics. The relics are near the instance entrances though so whether by discovery or relic it sounds like you have to go visit the place first.
February 10, 2011 at 12:41 pm
Pretty sure its just exploration based, as my character over on BR was copied well before the relics and she had no problems walking into the rad.
Also, the relics are not necessarily near the entrances as the Enedwaith one is almost at the opposite end of the map.

What levels to these instances require ?
February 10, 2011 at 12:45 pm
These are level 65 instances. My little level 43 wasn’t even allows to enter
February 10, 2011 at 1:12 pm
There’s also some new Oatbarton quests in the little hobbit farm beside the entrance to the instance. The new quests are around level 30, which really gives a lot more to do in Oatbarton.
Add to that the fact that level 40 players can now do Annuminas instances, and they’ve done a lot to make the Evendim quest pack more desirable!
February 10, 2011 at 3:22 pm
+Sapience has done some more digging and all the instances are a part of the Eidenwaith quest pack; the hub’s various instances are not broken up between zones.
February 10, 2011 at 4:01 pm
Really? Even the instances outside of Eidenwaith require that quest pack?
Does not make much sense to me…
February 10, 2011 at 4:03 pm
Nevermind… I should have read the update to the post.
It really all belongs to Enedwaith.
February 10, 2011 at 4:34 pm
Oh man. Oh man. Oh man.
Haunted mansion 12-man.
It looks like it’s exactly what I was hoping for.
February 10, 2011 at 10:40 pm
I’m Surprised and a little disappointed that they are Lvl-65 if that is true. I thought that based on areas we would be looking at one 65, a 50, 2 40′s and a 30 which would have really added to the variety earlier in the game which I think is needed. Of course, if they are all scalable that might make it moot, but no word on that yet that I have seen.
February 10, 2011 at 10:47 pm
We have seen that Anuminas dungeons have been scaled down to 40. Does that help at all?
February 10, 2011 at 10:47 pm
Unless things change, the new instances aren’t scalable. Honestly, I don’t foresee that happening before Update 2 hits the live servers.
However, there is new level 30 to 40 content (in the sense of old things made new, with new stuff added, streamlined, etc.).
We’re talkin’ revamp here, folks. We’re talking about Evendim.
February 10, 2011 at 10:48 pm
Honestly, Turbine has put so much attention into newer players that I’m happy with some endgame-only content for once. If everything was almost fully scalable end-game would lose a lot of its luster.
February 11, 2011 at 9:07 am
Well, I would like them to scale upwards at a later point. But that’s for later. For now, new endgame content is great!
February 10, 2011 at 11:18 pm
I tried the 3-man instance in North Downs this afternoon. The thing that struck me that I really like is you have to physically WALK your toon up to the entrance before you can do the instance the first time.
I’ve heard a lot of lamenting from old-timers in this game that many players will never know where exactly The Rift of Nerz-something-achoo is.
I think that is a creative way to make it so players adventure around and actually go up to the instance, but still keeping the convenience of the instance join panel.
February 11, 2011 at 6:53 am
The North Downs instance, Stoneheight, is fairly straightforward hack and slash, with some nice jewelry pieces in the loot boxes. North Cottonfield Farms (sp?) in Oatbarton can be a tough one indeed. Bring poison pots is all I’ll say for that. Oh and you get to meet some folks from GB. It’s like old home week, but with screaming, blood and violence
February 11, 2011 at 10:18 am
doh : ( I have all of above except Enedwaith…
February 11, 2011 at 2:29 pm
Does anyone know how the armour set for Annuminas is going to work now that the dungeon can be scaled down to level 40? All of the armour from Annuminas right now is level 50 correct?
February 21, 2011 at 12:45 pm
Have you tried http://my.lotro.com/charactercopy? Despite what the bullroarer launcher says, character copy is up and working. We were able to run the 3man in the shire, the boss fights were pretty decent, and we got to slap lots of silly hobbitses!
February 21, 2011 at 12:52 pm
I had previously copied Goldenstar and removed her from bullroarer. She cannot be copied again until a wipe.
May 16, 2011 at 7:10 pm
the character copy link is not working at all it just goes to a page that shows various links but the site is not up and running at all, ive been trying all day but its not working. very disappointing too.
