LOTRO Outage Over!

January 30, 2011

LOTRO News

catAfter being down for most the day, LOTRO servers are all back up and functioning.

No official reason for the outage has been shared. With the game servers and the web portal both down the best place for LOTRO news during the day was via LOTRO’s Twitter or Facebook accounts. The problem was isolated to Turbine services (DDO and AC were down as well) as Codemaster players were happily logged in all day.

I was online when the crash happened and can honestly say I had not expected this to be an all day occurrence. Something must have seriously broke! I crashed right around noon and was able to log back in around 8:30pm EST. That’s a long darn unexpected outage!

When the forums did come online, Sapience did keep a thread up to date with the status of connectivity. There still appear to be some syncing issues with the forum postings that they are aware of and working on.

Well, that’s what happens when you enrage the chinchillas. I hope Turbine has learned its lesson.

I misread the headline to say, “LOTRO Outrage Over!” and was afraid I had missed a raucous protest of some sort.

I’m happy to see it was merely an outage.

Nice to have it functioning properly again. Glad that Turbine worked on the weekend to get this resolved for us.

Someone forgot to feed the hampsters. Then they realized they were out of hampster food and Petsmart was closed. Just to think that thousands of people enjoyment came down to hampster food.

I had no idea that any of this happened. We had a freak three days of near 70 degree weather so I grabbed my toddler and ran off to the zoo for the day. After coming home and fixing dinner for the fam and then sitting down with hubby to watch the All-Pro Football game I finally decided to log on and see what was going on.

Glad to see they are back up again as the weather has turned crappy once more. I’m SO looking forward to Spring.

Considering the whole data center was out I have an odd feeling some networking equipment broke and they either didn’t have replacements on hand or it took forever to reconfigure the replacements. :-|
