Episodes from 2011, Podcast

CSTM LogoThis week we talk about the bullroarer patch, tell the community team, Codemasters updated hacking response, lotteries, guides and more!

In LOTRO this week Goldenstar got her Rune-keeper to level 43. She finished Vol 1 book 5 and moved from Misty Mountains to Angmar. Goldenstar is doing some quests in Enedwaith.

Merric also has moved to Angmar with his minstrel. This week he ran a 3-man instance with our dungeon group and he has begun to play a little on creepside.

Thurley from Landroval:

Hi Merric and Goldenstar, (or should that be Goldenstar and Merric),

Does anyone win the Lotteries anymore? When Turbine re-introduced the Lotteries in December, I entered and won prizes on a regular basis.

I have continued to be dillgent about entering the Lottery with my three main characters since the first of the year, and to my knowledge have entered every availalbe lottery since January 1. However, I haven’t won a single thing…nada, zip, nothing.

Last year, I would win something on one of my toons at least once a week, and it was the same when Turbine test returned the Lottery in December. Possibly since, I am not entering any of my lower level alts, I am missing out on the majority of the prices.

I haven’t heard you comment on any lotteries and I am wondering if they are working. Anyway, it may be a good Poll question for you.

Love the show, and keep up the good work. I think that it is wonderful that you two have been recognized for your effort by the MMO community, I know that your podcast and blog have significatly added to my enjoyment and sense of community with LOTRO.

p.s. If anyone asks, however, I won both of my Steeds of Night on the brief Lottery they had. Surely I wouldn’t be foolish enough to plunk down $19.95 for each of those pretty horses.

Wendilica on Silverlode:

I’m surprised that no one has pointed out that the colors of the symbols (and the associated descriptions) match the four debuff types that monsters inflict. So far there’s been red for wounds, purple for fear, yellow for disease, and green for poison. The one in Thror’s Comb has no color, though, so maybe it just stands for dread. That’s my theory anyway. Love your show!

Merric and Goldenstar,

Once again – great job on all the podcasts!! Always entertaining and good info.

I have a question. I am by no means new to using iTunes to get new podcasts, but at the same time I am no expert either. As I’ve been listening to more and more podcasts, I find that going into the Podcasts on my iPod Touch and then hitting ‘Get More Episodes’ a little cumbersome. At the same time, I find there is a 1-3 day lag on iTunes from when the podcasts are released to when they show up on iTunes.

Is there a way to use RSS feeds and Podcatchers (new terms to me) to download the podcasts to my iPod when released? Or can I only stream the podcasts from those Feeds?

I’d welcome any comments / assistance on this, including recommendations on which Feedburner / podcatcher works best for you.

Thanks and regards.

Ialva of Brandywine:

Hi Merric and Goldenstar, sorry to have missed out the last episode’s live chat :( My warm bed mezzed me for an extra hour : P

After listening to the podcast of last episode I reckon I would write something in response to Draculetta’s Raise Your Glass letter saying that a PUG she encountered called her stupid and playing her class wrong. I want to say that it’s not her, it’s them who are doing it wrong, as MMO players. Starting a game earlier than someone else is nothing smart or superior that gives anyone right to call someone stupid.

I had a similar experience when healing for my first GA Thadur which is also 10 levels above my level when I was in the early 20s. I told them I am well below level when they invited me and I kept them alive until the boss and we couldn’t kill it and the tank called me junk healer and left instance and the group was disbanded. So..I put him in ignore list and ate my Shire Rations.

Now I am in a kin I met in a PUG and we are doing very well as a group so I would like to do a little shout out to Draculetta or any players who got bad treatment from PUGs don’t let junk players stop you from grouping as grouping is a lot of fun and there are always nice people worth knowing out there.

BTW I accidentally became the 400th liker of the Lonely Mountain Band facebook page and just so happen they were planning to do a big announcement when there is a 400th liker so I triggered it : D They are going to release a new album called Second Breakfast on March 25th and it is all about hobbits! *Hobbit dance* Just feel like mentioning this to all the hobbits : D

Fogsong on Firefoot:

I updated the Guardian Class guides on the Lorebook because I found a lot of the really good material was getting buried in the forums and I only accidentally stumbled on it – I thought other Guards may be in the same boat. The Guardian Class guide section has been suffering for years for the equivalent of Elb’s captain guide – I thought I was just SoL – little did I realize some great work was out there and I just didn’t know about it.

Jaunt’s post in the forums (Learn to Play) started me on it – he had put it out on the Lorebook but it was not categorized so it was basically orphaned.

So I categorized his post (which he approved) and that cascaded into getting the materials he referenced also on to the Lorebook – I don’t know if deserves a mention for those aspiring Guards out there?

Hey guys, I’ve gotten caught up on all the episodes I missed over the months I wasaway. The store looks AWESOME! I want everything in there, but have to save my coins to buy stuff. I know I will want the coffee mugs, t-shirt, and sweat shirt (especialy the “Dont stand in the poop” stuff). I have just a wierd couple questions. 1) What sizes are the shirts/sweatshirts? 2) Why are dark shirts more expensive?

Hope the show and the store continue to do well. Love you guys!

Special thank you to those who donated to CSTM this week! We appreciate the support!

I wrote some days ago on my blog about the colors and the relation to effects (as well as some ideas, how this will continue).
