ZAM’s Interview with Kate Paiz

October 25, 2010

LOTRO News, Turbine

Posted today was an interview that ZAM’s Senior Editor Chris Tom was to have with Kate Paiz about LOTRO, the Free-to-Play launch and what we might see in the future.  Of particular interest were several items:

  • The Elf Queen’s dress started on the “best seller” list because it was one of the QA tester’s favorite items and she used it to test purchases on all the servers due to her fondness of the item.  As more people saw it, the more bought it and it remained a best seller for weeks.
  • Crafting recipes in the store have been one of the least popular selling items.
  • We will most likely see expansions in the form of “quest pack” expansions (Enedwaith) and “full” expansions (Mirkwood?  Or dare we dream, Moria?).

ZAM: And on that note, what sort of new things can players expect to see coming in the short-term; new cosmetic items, or perhaps some other convenience-related items that didn’t make it into the first round?

Turbine: Our November Update will include a new type of store item that is a general ingredient pack for a given tier of crafting. This will allow players to buy a few premium ingredient packs to use for a variety of crafting recipes, thereby speeding up their crafting experience.

If you’re like me, the last item is very, very interesting.  One can only wonder what these items will these “ingredient packs” be available for all tiers and all have the ability to replace components such as for the highly sought-after Symbol of Celebrimbor?  I guess we’ll see later this week on Bullroarer!

Wow, there was a lot of marketing waste of time responses and (in my opinion) lame questions in that interview. Even the new information (which Merric nicely highlighted) was very light on the details. I want bits of crunchy goodness, not fluff and fillers.
