Some of you may recall a podcast from a couple years ago called “Secrets of Lord of the Rings”. I’m very happy to inform everyone that this project is getting a re-boot and is now going by the name “Secrets of of Middle-earth” hosted by Father Roderick.
What they do is visit one or two places in LOTRO and do a sound-seeing tour. They talk about the lore behind the game and hopefully provide both entertainment and information! There is also a uStream video in LOTRO that goes with the show. The head adventurer is a Catholic priest who is also an avid gamer, but the focus is not on religion. Everyone should be able to enjoy it!
I have to say that I am personally excited to see this podcast return as I had listened to it previously. Listening to the show and hearing the LOTRO sounds behind it really helps me appreciate the atmosphere and realism that Turbine has put into this game simply with the sound files. In the most recent episode (#11) you can tell when the line has been crossed from the Greenway into the Fields of Fornost!
I really suggest you give it a try! It’s great information being told while using our favorite game!

I’m in the middle of the most recent episode and it is a very intriguing podcast format!
I’m not sure what to make of it but I love the approach and I like hearing him describe his travels in the fashion of his character, like a semi-RP. Cool stuff.

Just when I thought there was no such thing as coincidence! Recently I downloaded a video podcast, called Healthy Catholic, hosted by…Father Roderick.
I had no idea he did anything Middle Earth related, and here you are covering it.
Divine intervention?

I first heard about LotRO from Fr. Roderick, back when it was called “Secrets of Lord of the Rings”.
A really interesting podcast, I must say. And if you like it you might check out his other podcasts on the network =D.

Yep, the Secrets of Middle Earth is great. I used to listen to the old one (Secrets of the Lord of the Rings), and I waited for over a year for it to continue. I am grateful that it has finally reemerged.

Hi! This is Laura from the Secrets of Middle-earth podcast. Thanks so much for posting this!
We have a lot of fun running around Middle-earth and talking about what we find. We are planning a series of episodes for the spring where we will follow in Frodo’s footsteps from Bag End to Lothlorien, and talk about different themes in Lord of the Rings.
Feel free to say hi or leave me some feedback for the podcast in game. I am Lindorieh on Landroval, and Laerlenn on Elendilmir.

Secrets is awesome. Just listening to the background ambient sounds while Fr. Roderick describes his surroundings in game… it “takes me away”. Love the lore discussions too.
His podcast was what got me to search for more. Came up one day as I searched and next thing you know I have a bunch of podcasts in queue. lol

I heard about this podcast on your podcast and decided to put the latest episodes on my iPod.
What a interesting concept. It is awesome to hear all the sounds that you take for granted while ingame.
Keep up the great work! Love the podcast!
