One of the largest complaints about the LOTRO Store was that you couldn’t try on clothes before you purchased them. Yes, there was a picture/drawing of what they were supposed to look like, but how often can you tell what something will look like on you without trying them on? The answer is that you can’t. So it seems that with today’s hotfix Turbine snuck in a new enhancement that allows you to click on a “Try it on” button on a cosmetic item’s description page to open up the cosmetic dressing room and preview it on your character!
You can now “try before you buy” in the LOTRO Store! The Dressing Room will allow you to try on cosmetic items before you buy them. Will that cloak clash with your tunic? Can you dye those gloves? Click “Try it on” in the item description and find out!
I have to say I’m mightily impressed. Although some may argue that this is just another way of Turbine to push their wares, I think most will agree that this is a crucial feature that players should have in order to make their final decisions. I know I’ve been thinking about changing up my characters’ looks and that I held off making any purchases because there wasn’t an in-game preview.

They snuck that in with the 9/27 patch. I was really surprised that a change as demanded as that didn’t get more publicity!

This seems like another example of Turbine listening to the community, though it took them a while. I first heard this suggested back in July on the F2P Beta. Cosmetics are a big deal for some players, so I’m glad we no longer have to make our purchases blind.

Oh, there goes my free cash! My wife has been thinking about picking up some cosmetic outfits for her characters, but didn’t like that she couldn’t try them on before buying. Now that she’ll be able to do just that, I expect we’ll be buying her a nice, large pack of TP to spend on dresses.

Now if only they’d fix my name so I could actually post on the forums about half of this stuff

It should have been fixed. My account was restored with their last web update. Got my blog back and everything. Maybe check your profile? Where it says “Logged in As” there may be a dropdown. Perhaps you have other accounts and it’s using the wrong one?

Awesome! This was one of the first suggestions I made in beta (among with hundreds of other players, I’m sure). Glad they finally got it added.

Yeah, it was there when they came back up from maintenance on monday. I really wanted that Swan Cloak, and I noticed it then. This was seriously a big deal to some people, and it kept them from buying. GOOD JOB, TURBINE!!
Although, I didnt see anything in the patch notes.
