Merric & I were not able to make the trek out to Seattle this year for PAX Prime. Fortunately for us we have amazing listeners/readers. Michael contacted us willing to feed us his experiences so we can live vicariously through him! We really appreciated his offer and are super pleased to share some photos Michael sent to us from last night.
See these photos in our Picasa Album.

I had a chance to quickly walk the floor (8pm tonight before show opens). I thought you would like to see some of the booths (works in progress). They are expecting 75k attendees over the three days. All of the major publishers and developers are here. Its is 65 / 35 console to PC with big presence by Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft. Sony is showing off PS3 Move and MS is showing Kinnect. Unfortunately, Nintendo is not showing the 3DS.
Turbine and WB are in separate booths. Turbine is featuring LOTRO and DDO (no Asheron’s Call – at least no signage). Their systems were off so I couldn’t tell if they were running LOTRO beta. Too bad the turbine team had already left. WB was showing a lot of titles. Lord of the Rings War in the North had a big presence. Check out the cool statue of a Nazgul. For perspective the statue islife size (8 to 10 feet tall).
I included some other pictures to give you some flavor: Fallout Las Vegas (Dinosaur), Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic, Halo Reach, and Tron.
Thank you Michael!

Really wished the main PAX event would be on the East coast or in the Central US. PAX East doesn’t get as much love as PAX West/Prime.
The Star Wars game, The Old Republic, is a Bioware/Lucasarts MMORPG that follows in the footsteps of Knights of the Old Republic. I’ve been following the game for a while and am excited about it, being a Star Wars fan!
The Nazgul statue looks real nice! I heard Turbine is handing out TP codes for those that come to their booth. I wonder how much the codes will be worth!

I think that’s b/c PAX East is too early in the year…most people are recovering from Xmas and Holidays then. Now they are gearing up for holiday sales.
That being said, what about PAX North for Canada!

Cool pics!
On an unrelated note, has anyone else caught the irony of Turbine’s slogan, “powered by our fans”? Turbines use fans to generate power…
Just noticed that when I saw their banner in the pics. That’s pretty clever!

My husband, an airplane engine mechanic, has always enjoyed the irony of Turbine’s slogan. It’s a great play on words.
