In this episode, we take a look at the Buffbars plugin by Pengoros. This plugin allows for you to create a panel that will show you the buffs (and debuffs) that currently reside on your player, creates quickslots for your potions, and keeps track of their cool-down timer!
This plugin is something I’ve personally been waiting for and that I was thrilled to see created. I personally like to keep track of my buffs and my debuffs, but I am horrible at actually looking to see what is on me at all times. With this mod, not only does it make it easier to see the effects currently on my character, but it shows me the name and the time left. Plus, whenever I have a certain type of de-buff or low morale/power it will bring up the corresponding potion that can be used to remedy the situation. Additionally, it will then throw up a timer telling me when I can use that type of potion again! As if that’s not enough, there are a ton of visual options and filters that can be used to modify these bars so that they display in a manner that is pleasing to you!
Of all the plugins that I’ve tried, this is definitely one of the better designed mods out there, if not the best that I’ve tried so far. Not only does it serve a function that all my characters will use, but it is fully featured, customized, and still not bloat-ware. A plugin of this caliber makes me anxious to see what Pengoros and other plugin writers do as time goes on and the API opens up!

I have a noob question- does each plug in have to be downloaded and installed individually (kinda like WoW addons)?

Yes it does. LOTRO Interface has stated that it will be adding support to Minion in the future, but I haven’t heard about any progress on that since the Beta when it was announced.

This is my absolute favourite plugin! To all you LM’s out there, this makes stun dotting so much easier. I have almost all other buffs ignored except my stun dot, use it on myself before anyone else in the fellow and it’s so easy to track. No more tooltips over those tiny buff images to see when it will run out.

Great idea. Good for burgers too.

This is the best plugin out there, hands down!

Helpful Hint: You can create an Alias script and bind it to a quickslot to load your plugins instead of having to type /plugins load blahblahblah. I use the Plugin Manager (saves the settings for each character) and load it with an Alias script. When I log on, I just click one button and all my addons are loaded.

Where do I go for help getting buffbars working? The author (understandably) doesn’t publish contact info, Lotrointerface doesn’t take queries, lorebook forums doesn’t deal at this level
I’ve downloaded it, it loads, I can customize it but the quickslot bars NEVER show up on the screen. The slider does.
I’ve tried this on two machines. The file is extracted and stuck in doc’s, LOTRO/plugins It is also making plugin data a separate folder.
Nada~
Where do I go for assistance? I’d like to get my kin set up on this, but until I can make it work, even our senior guys won’t bother…
Thx.
Love your site

You can actually post a comment on the page (http://cstm.us/lDvMzX) and the author will answer it. Or you can click on his name and send him a private message. He’s actually a pretty good guy.

To load a lot of plugins, load CPM, its a plugin manager. Once you have it set up, its the only plugin you need to load, and it will auto load all your others.

Yep, we covered that in the first one
