Episode 55: CSTM and the Stupid Axe of Stupidness

Episodes from 2010, Podcast

Stupid Axe of StupidnessThis week was dungeon week for Merric and Goldenstar. We revisited Helegrod trying the new scaling instance at 65 in the Giant Wing. We also tried 16th Hall and Ost Elendil which were new instances for us. We were unable to do challenge mode in any of the dungeons but it was still super fun to do all these dungeons.

Here is the link to mmorsel’s map of Minas Elendur which helped Goldenstar escape the maze! Also here is the link to Roll One Hundred’s Annuminas armor pictures Goldenstar mentioned.

Wilso Wobblefoot:

Just wrapped up listening to the last podcast. Glad you like the name. :) of all the mmos I’ve ever played, it’s the one I’m mist proud of and came the easiest. Wilso fits the hobbit culture and my last name is…Wilson. I created him two days after I ruptured my Achilles, so the surname seemed appropriate. I keep thinking I should develop an in game back story involving a limp or something, but I haven’t.

Keep up the amazing work. Yours is the first podcast I listen to after a sync.

Chad:

Hi,

Fellow player from Michigan, love the show. I relocated from GR back to Jackson and play when I’ve got time.

I logged on yesterday, went off and tried to get back on and keep getting the log in option tell me I need to reload the Dir. 9 visual driver. Click ok, type in my password and then it dosent show me any info regarding realm status, but gives me at times the data on the bottom part of the screen. I was wondering if you were aware of if I was having driver issues or am not getting any more action since I’m waiting to log on?

Any insight would be helpful. It was doing this issue again this morning.

Chad

Chad contacted Turbine support and was given instructions to delete LauncherUserSettings.xml and then restart the game. Poor Chad is a mac user had had difficulties traversing the windows folders.

I can’t believe this is the first one I missed, but hey that’s what I get for driving for 8hours and leaving late. I can’t wait to listen to it though.

Regarding the Premium Experiment, I had just ran out of quests today. Let the grind begin!

Also, because it’s going to be such a long time between capstone videos, I’m thinking about putting out a series of Sidebar video to keep people occupied and informed. I keep seeing certain questions pop up over and over again and I think it would be good to have a visual reference for how to do things such as customizing your UI and keyboard commands, Acquiring a mount, using the AH, etc. Some of them may be done from my VIP account as they may require spending TP.

Good podcast! If you’ve already purchased Lone Lands, I’d go with Evendim next. Lone Lands will take you to the low to mid 30s, which is the perfect level range to start Evendim (start with Oatbarton and go up to Ost Forod and Tinnudir). Evendim also hooks you up with the Annuminas instances once you hit level 50! North Downs, on the other hand, only has the static Fornost instance.

I’ve went through all of GB this past weekend. It was a lot of fun in a group that knows what it is doing. Thadur was the hardest, but we managed. Hitting the fellowship maneuver is so important when playing GB Thadur on-level! At the end of our run, we had about 10 GB marks, 10-20 recruit marks, and a few hundred skirmish marks. Ended up with 700-800 skirmish marks total! Once you run GB at level 30, you can start earning veteran second marks, which are needed for the lower level Annuminas set and skirmish vendor gear.

Almost forget, mmorsel is awesome! I took a peak at their map for that part of the epic when I was on beta. I managed not to get lost, but I was curious where the other exploration deed locations were. The Room of Dread was somewhat spooky!

I heard that the dungeons “didn’t take that long”, but was wondering how long that was for you two.

I’m curious, because I think it’ll be a challenge for me to carve out long play sessions in my schedule.
