On August 29th, Merric; Chris and Bill of LOTRO Reporter; Alberos of LOTROCast; and Xyderias and Fyurae of Mordor or Bust to discuss their view on their experiences with Free-to-Play in the Beta.
Unfortunately due to PAX and other scheduling issues, there was some delay in the release of the final edit by Chris. However, we hope that despite this you’ll enjoy the commentary.
This podcast is being released by several if not all of the podcasts listed. This will be the same episode. If you have already listened to this recording from another podcast, there is no need to listen to our copy.

I always enjoy the podmoots with all the LOTRO podcasters
Please keep doing these!
However, just a little nit-pick: Everyone’s voices were only coming out of one speaker or the other, but not both at the same time. I listen to these podcasts with headphones while I’m working, so it was very distracting to hear Chris on my left side and everyone else on my right.

Chris was the recorder/editor. I’m not certain if this was done on purpose or not. Sorry for the distraction.

Great Podmoot!

Hey Guys,
I enjoyed the podcast, but is this the version you meant to upload? Not sure if all of the pre-show was meant to be in there with Merric’s email address and stuff. Just wondering. A good listen, though!

I really agreed with what Fyurae had to say about mmo guilt, where F2P will remove barriers to exit along with entry. Oddly enough, the reason I was looking forward to F2P was because I wouldn’t have to play anymore. I love the game, but as soon as my sub expires, I’m taking a break for a while – I just have too many other obligations.
Low-commitment gaming is good for me individually, but I don’t think it’s great for the community. I wonder what it’s going to be like logging on for the first time a few months from now and discovering that I recognize almost no one in my kin, for example. I don’t know that it spells certain doom for the Lotro community, but we shall see.
Loved the podcast, good work as always, guys!
Also, fyi Merric, you still have some of the post-show stuff in your file that you might want to trim out

The file is from Lotro Reporter. This is their recording shared for the podmoot partcipantd. I will tell merric about the extras though. See if he wants to edit it.

Merric corrected the left/right channel issue if you delete your cuurrent file and download the new one this should be better for you.
I’m very sorry for the inconvenience.

Good to hear. My current headphones have a short somewhere, so I can’t hear out of one speaker consistently unless I do a goofy arrangement with the wire (which I avoid doing on campus!). Thus, I could only hear the moderator consistently. I will check out this revised edition today!

OMG, how do you guys find time to do all of this stuff?
September 16, 2010 at 12:34 am
hear hear! i barely have enuf time to listen, much less all the work that goes into the casts themselves. We really appreciate the effort!
