Posted today on the Codemasters forums is a bit of information concerning the Free-to-Play delay.
We would like to update you on the status of Free to Play launching in Europe. To ensure that we bring the best possible experience to our customers as well as resolving all major blocking issues we are now aiming to release within the next few weeks.
Still no date announced but a better idea of when the big change could be coming. They do say they hope to have a date soon.

We here in EU are pretty p…ed off right now. It is not very funny anymore in our forums.
I did the best thing possible right now, loaded the US client and joined a (so far) fully german kinship on landroval with about 100 people since the last 2 weeks and growing
We´re hoping we get soon(TM) some infos (and especially some reasons for the delay) from codemasters, but our hope is fading.

The last update said “probably at the end of the month”. This new update says “in the next few weeks”.
So I’d say that we do not have a “better idea”. The next few weeks could be anything from two weeks to ten weeks or whatever their definion of “few” is. It’s definitely not “the next week” which is the end of this month.
I’m most of all annoyed that we have to live with the delay but aren’t told any reason as to why. We know it’s not the store, it’s not the servers, not the infrastructure. They said as much. So what’s left then?

I am very intrigued by the delay to EU F2P launch and would love to know the reasons behind it.
However, having worked for very large companies in the past, it is never standard operating procedure to admit to any failing or internal problem of this kind.
I personally am of the opinion, that the delay is legal/political and has nothing to do with technical infrastructure.
You show me a business problems and I’ll show you a lawyer or an accountant at the bottom of it

Yep, it’s certainly starting to seem that there are disagreements somewhere along the line. I have trouble thinking that a system issue of enormous difference is keeping the launch from happening.

I’d assumed free to play was being delayed by differences between Codemasters’ and Turbine’s internal account systems. The same differences which are supposed to have kept My LotRO from being launched over here. But surely they’d have fixed it by now?
Whatever the issue ends up being, I just hope it’s solved as quickly as possible. This whole situation reminds me far too much of what happened to DDO.

The part that makes me think it might be a dispute between Turbine and Codemasters is on the My Lotro login page where it says that you are logging in from North America with a radio button next to it as if they are planning on adding more areas.

We are a terrible bunch of busy-body hobbits, aren’t we?
Here we are, fueling the terrible fires of speculation.
Anyways, myspeculation is that Xusia is closer to the truth than he/she knows. There’s probably a bunch of laywers in the pot and they are stirring something up. What do you want to bet it’s all about the money?

the whole thing is just a joke. as a founder you feel completely disrespected. i hope codemasters will finally f..k off and our accounts will be transfered to turbine.

This whole situation has gone from being funny, to down right annoying. We have always had delays from codemasters with updates and such but now things are going just too far! Codemasters decided to open a welcome back week so unsubbed existing players can “re-discover” middle earth. It was assumed in the way this was mentioned on the 24th of sept post that this would last until f2p launched in the eu. How wrong we were, with very little notice, the welcome back week ended on the 27th. Not only did this end however, but all the eu trial accounts have been canceled. A lot of players and their friends joining the game are incredibly p’d off right now and tbh, they have every right to be.

Just a quick update, if you go to http://www.lotro-europe.com, you are now taken to a f2p teaser screen that looks a lot like it is of turbine ilk, also there is now a us flag on the us teaser site. Personally I think we are going to see the EU servers change hands, and that this explains the delays.

UK flag not US, sorry
