Summer has arrived in Middle-Earth for 2010! This guide is here to help you discover all the fun to be had and help you earn those seasonal goodies!
The main bartering item for this event are called Summer Festival Token. The quests to earn these tokens are repeatable so you can in fact earn enough tokens to get all the goodies the festival offers (granted that you have enough time).
The quests are mostly broken up into four major regions in Middle Earth:
- Bree Festival Grounds (24.7S, 51.6W Breeland)
- Thorin’s Hall (13.48S, 103.2W Thorin’s Gate) – in the underground Tavern
- Duillond (24.6S, 93.1W Ered Luin)
- Shire Party Tree at and just north of the Party Tree at 29.0S, 71.3W the Shire
What is not included in this guide
The festivals of Middle Earth include certain quests that appear with each and every festival. Please see our guide on these General Festival Quests for help with those events. This would include the
- dance quests
- horse race
- Inn League quests
- Ale Association quests
Also the Summer Festival starts the quest of the Travelling Farmer. This is a quest for those with the farming profession and you must start the quest in the summer in order to collect your reward in the fall festival.

Breeland Quests
Fireworks for the Festival

You are to collect fireworks from all the festival areas and you have 1 hour to do it. Not a difficult quest and super easy if you are (or pair up with) a hunter. Each Festival area will have a Fireworks vendor that will sell you their race’s fireworks.
You can pick up these fireworks ahead of time just while wandering around doing other festival stuff and have it ready when you go to Bree.
The Pond
Quest Giver: Will Hindmarsh
Quest Level: 5+ (must have fishing hobby)
Rewards: Turn in fish caught for bonus tokens
Repeat: Daily
You must first finish the Stocking the Pond quest in the Shire to open this quest. Will asks you to catch as many fish as you can in 20 minutes. Turn in your fish to Will for extra tokens earned.

Keg-Hopping Race: Off to the Races
Quest Giver: Jorfi

The dwarves of Thorin’s hall are having a drinking race. Jorfi gives you the quest in the underground tavern. The race itself happens just outside on the steps leading up to Thorin’s Hall.
You use your dwarf race tokens to bet on your favorite to win. A new game starts every 10 minutes. The second part instructs you to observe the race but I ran as far from the race area as I could and still was notified the race’s outcome without failing. I didn’t leave Thorin’s Hall zone though.
When you win you must rush to turn this quest back into Jorfi before the next race begins or you will lose your prize. Winning you will earn you 12 Summer Festival Tokens!
This race can be entered so long as you have Dwarf Race Tokens to spend. Jorfi will hand out new tokens every 2 hours!

There are 4 NPC hobbits who are doing a race/food eating competition and you can use 1 of your tokens to bet on your favorite. A new game starts every 10 minutes. The second part instructs you to observe the race but I ran as far from the race area as I could and still was notified the race’s outcome without failing.

Horse races are back up and running
Just did both on Silverlode.
June 29, 2010 at 1:12 pm
Thanks Doc!
June 29, 2010 at 5:15 pm
Anyone have a screen shot of the horses for this fest?
June 29, 2010 at 5:24 pm
I posted a video of it http://www.casualstrolltomordor.com/2010/06/summer-festival-begins-tomorrow/ and Doc Holiday has a pic on his blog as well.

Whoah! Me on a horse!
June 29, 2010 at 5:59 pm
Thank you, Goldenstar
I don’t Think, i would of Done without this Today
June 29, 2010 at 6:18 pm
I’m so excited. This is my first festival I can really do. I popped in to the game at the end of the Yule and Spring festivals and didn’t really know what was going on.
Thanks for the lovely guides. I’m off to get myself some pretties!
June 29, 2010 at 7:37 pm
I have to object to this male discrimination, our tunic is almost non-dye-able.
On the other hand – any tips on who to bet on? Whomever I pick he/she always ends up last.
June 30, 2010 at 7:17 pm
They all have a random chance to win as it would be impossible to complete the Lucky Duck deed otherwise but ask the players around. There are clear favorites for each race.
June 30, 2010 at 1:20 pm
Awesome awesome. Thank you, thank you.
June 30, 2010 at 11:10 pm
I’m being cursed this year in not being able to run the horse race without failing. Spring festival I ran it once and won. I think I’m going on ten times now for the summer horse race. Ughh. If I ever win the horse I might have to name him the Quenya form of Pain in the Rear.
I’m enjoying the fishing competition and the hungry Hobbit race too. So far I’ve gotten the summer traveling cloak and am now eyeballing the hammock and white wicker chair for my house.
July 5, 2010 at 7:10 pm
I love my Hammock!
July 5, 2010 at 3:57 pm
Excellent guide, thanks!
July 5, 2010 at 7:00 pm
This is an amazing guide, wonderful work!
I have a question, where did you get the white ceremonial dress? Did you dye it white or does it come that way? Mine came blue, I got it from the dwarf Quartermaster (haven’t tried to dye it yet).
Happy Summer!
Kemen
aka, Sweetpeas of Landroval
July 5, 2010 at 7:07 pm
The white one I believe is from the Bree-land quartermaster. I’m fairly certain the dress isn’t dye-able.
July 5, 2010 at 8:07 pm
Thank you Goldenstar! I completed the deed for the Sunshine title (LOVE it) and got myself a white ceremonial dress as well.
So far I’ve figured, Bree-land Ceremonial Dress is white, the one from Thorin’s Hall is blue and I’m guessing the one from the Hobbits(?) or Elves(?) is green.
July 6, 2010 at 10:25 pm
The green ceremonial dress is indeed from the elves.
Fantastic guide, thanks!
July 9, 2010 at 6:10 pm
Anyone listened to the music boxes yet? My kin has the most terrific music box with the Tom Bombadil theme in it, but no one remembers where it came from, and I’m looking for it…
July 9, 2010 at 6:21 pm
The Tom Bombadil decoration theme is a reputation reward from mathom house.
July 11, 2010 at 3:33 pm
Thank you! I’ve been looking for that for *years*.
July 15, 2010 at 3:45 am
Thanks for the great summer festival guide! I am having great troubles with the Hobbit racing. Grrrrrr that Mudric won’t win for me! I think I have spent about 30 tokens in a row on him
June 21, 2011 at 10:46 am
Nice! But how come they never have shoes in those festivals?
June 21, 2011 at 2:29 pm
Just for everyones info: there’s a fishing title for catching 10 of each of the rare fish, for, very original, the title: “Rare Fish”
April 19, 2012 at 1:19 pm
Where is the Gandalf quest? I’m guessing I’m looking in he wrong entry…?
April 20, 2012 at 6:32 am
You are looking at the wrong festival guide. At this time the Anniversary festival is active, not the summer festival.
