Thank you to twitter follower @SvennEthir for alerting us to this deal going on now on Amazon. I thought it too good not to pass along for any readers who are paying month to month subscriptions.
The Lord of the Rings Online Prepaid 60-Day Game Time Card is now only $16.99! That’s about $8.50 a month for game time.
These game time cards are even able to be used after LOTRO goes Free-to-Play to pay for your VIP account. [source] However, Sapience says they will not work with Trial or F2P (free player) accounts.

Thank you for the link to these!
Is there more detail on “they will not work with a Trial or F2P (free player) accounts”? Basically, has a procedure been outlined for going from a new free-player account to a VIP account?
I had the thought that picking up a few of these cards for friends might be a good way to encourage them to get into LotRO this fall. What, other than the card, would they need to do to start in on the original (SoA) content as a VIP?

I asked Sapience via twitter and he stated “they should work with any PURCHASED version of the game. They will not work with a trial or f2p account”. He also said it’s subject to change so nothing is written in stone.
I simply didn’t want people to purchase them with the hope of making a Free Account a VIP account as right now that’s not a guarantee.
I’m honestly not sure as it seems to me paying with a subscription card would turn you to a VIP subscribing player but I think its just not clear what else is needed to make that transition.

Ok. It was a nice plan while it lasted. Thank you for the clarification. I’ll just have to come up with other ways to get them into Middle-earth.
One of the things I am hoping for is some kind of limited pass I can buy that will be similar to the 180 minute adventure pack passes sold in DDO. I don’t see how it would work in LotRO, but a week ago I could not see how the DDO pricing model could possibly be adapted, either, so I’ll leave the details up to the Turbine folk.

I bought several of these way back. Best Buy was clearancing them out for $9.99. The normal and CE version of Moria were $9.99. It was pretty sweet, since I was able to give some away for contests.
Beyond that, I hope they clarify more… These things are still in stores and I’d be pissed if I bought one and couldn’t really use it. But as Goldenstar says, what’s the difference between that and a VIP sub?

I was wondering if any of you guys know a trusted lord of the rings game card seller, that actually would send me a card’s code after I pay him, since that’s the only way I can seem to pay the monthly fees besides paypal which turbine doesn’t accept as an available payment…
Any of you Email me if you can help me out : ridan98@gmail.com

Why is this game unfindable in any stores? I’ve been to 3 EB’s two walmarts, two futureshops, a bestbuy and a staples.
NOTHING.
I did buy your 60-day card and guess what?
“You need to purchase the game to use this.”
*expletive deleted* fail bro. If only I could purchase the fucking game.
Turbine fails on this one, I have to get a credit card just to play a “f2p” game.
Something is wrong here…

First off this post is 4 months old. I am shocked if amazon still had the same deal going on but grats on buying a card.
The reason you can’t this game in stores is because the game is free since September 10th. You can download the full base game (no expansions) at lotro.com.
I have heard that buying a month is required to add a game card but I have never used one myself.
