LOTRO Raiding Readiness Calculator [BETA]

May 7, 2010

Dungeon Guides, Guides

Our raiding readiness calculator will help you determine if you have acquired enough radiance items to join in raid dungeons that have gloom auras. The ready to raid determination is based off guidelines we found in various dungeon guides. In all instances, you will still need to bring with you hope tokens and may require additional hope from destiny points to prevent yourself from cowering too much.

See our Radiance Guide for more information on these calculations. We also have information on Hope and when you start to cower.

The calculator is marked as beta because we are interested in your feedback! Merric and I haven’t had a chance to join in a radiance dungeon but we thought this would be useful in helping us prep and decided to share it. If there is any way to make this more useful or more accurate, we’d love to hear it!

Select which raid instance you wish to join: — Choose Dungeon from List — Vile Maw (Watcher) Dar Narbugud (DN) Barad Guldur (BG)
Enter your total Radiance:
Total Dread*:

Ready to Raid?

* Total Dread is calculated from the max possible gloom one could acquire in the dungeon from bosses, adds, etc.

are you assuming both hope tokens (+5 Hope) and destiny hope (+1 Hope)?

The calculation is actually a static number of what guides said was “minimum radiance” with no hope added. Those minimum numbers would require the +6 hope bonus to have any prayer of being affective but they could operate at that minimum number.

I actually had a hard time deciding if I should force an inclusion of the hope bonus or not but decided it was best to go with the lowest common denominator and mention that additional hope is needed.

Please feel free to let me know if you disagree. Or perhaps another field should be added for additional hope?

One random suggestion – could you add the names (and nicknames) of raids that do NOT require radiance? I once failed to volunteer for a kinship raid (I think it was the “turtle”) because I don’t own any radiance gear and thought I would therefore be useless. It turned out that I could have saved the gang some time looking for a PUG if I’d only known that the raid in question did not require radiance.

This is a bit of a tall order, but Radiance is a stat on my.lotro.com. What if you gave people the option of putting their name and server in instead?

Also, there’s more to being Raid Ready than how much Radience you have. For example you could include character level in there as well. Then you could include any six-man in your list (Barrow downs, GA, Fornost, etc).

Hmmm it sounds more like people would like to have a dungeon guide based on level more than just a straight raid checker. I’ll think about this and see if I can come up with anything :)

There is obviously a bunch to know about this. I consider you made certain nice points in features also.
