LOTRO Coming to the iPhone & Blackberry

April 1, 2010

General

Update: This was an April Fools joke. Turbine has made no announcements that LOTRO is coming to any other platforms out there.

Cant get enough LOTRO? Well after some recent images were leaked of a LOTRO beta client for the iphone and blackberry they have finally made the announcement.

While still in the early stages of development the client is expected to be released with the next paid expansion of LOTRO, Riders of Rohan in December. The few people that I have talked to that had their hands on this said the movements for the Blackberry will be similar to that of your keyboard with the keys for movement and the mouse ball for clicking. The iphone will be more a touch and move control system.

I’ll keep digging and see if I can find out any more information on this and when I do y’all will be the first to know. Be sure to check out the screenshots below and the official announcement over at the LOTRO forums here!

Why anyone would want to play an mmo on a mobile device smaller than a portable computer is beyond my understanding. When I play on my 15 inch laptop the screen is too small for my liking even then. Nice one though, Merric and Goldenstar. Happy April Fools day everyone.

Not sure how well this would play the game but is interesting. More important to me, has it been confirmed that Riders of Rohan is definitely the next expansion and that it is coming out in December. I had heard speculation but nothing has been confirmed to my knowledge. Would be awesome news if this is true.
