  2. Follow us on twitter (@strolltomordor) and tweet this exact phrase:
Win a signed copy of #LOTRO and other goodies from @strolltomordor and @turbine! Please RT. Details here: http://bit.ly/cstm-ann #cstmANN
  3. Become a fan (or “like” us as they are calling it now) of CSTM on Facebook and post in the discussion thread answering the question:
What is your most memorable moment in LOTRO?

You can do each of these three entries only once. While we appreciate you leaving multiple comments or re-tweeting often,, you can only earn one entry per option listed above. multiple posts/tweets will not increase your odds of winning but it will not disqualify you either.

If you are already following us on Twitter or are already a fan on Facebook, you do not need to unfollow and re-follow us. Just tweet or posting as instructed and you’ll be entered to win. The contest is open to all twitter/facebook followers, new and old.

Facebook fans make sure you are posting in the discussion thread and not on the fansite wall or in the comments. I prefer to have it in the discussion thread so I can make sure I don’t miss any entries!

This contest is open until April 30th, 2009 11:59pm EDT (-5 GMT). Entries received after this cutoff time will be discarded.

Contest Details

Winners will be compiled into a spreadsheet and entries numbered. Winners will be drawn using http://www.random.org random number generator. Winners will be contacted and will be given 2 days to respond before a new winner is selected.

These prizes are physical objects and will need to be shipped to your address. CSTM will pay to ship the items to you. 1. Deliorn Says:

my most memorable moment was probably the first kin run we did of the turtle. everyone but a minstrel and a rk wiped around 30k and the rk kited the turtle around the room spamming socking words and ceaseless argument and the minnie kept her up. they managed to get it down between the 2 of them. truly epic.

our kin has also had a lot of fun in the moors together. i love my kinnies and wouldn’t trade them for anything! Flame of Arnor!

  2. Urailas Says:

There are a lot of possible winners for the most “memorable” moment. I would have to say the most memorable was when I first got out of the intro instance and into Duillond with my very first character, there was just so much detail and the landscape was so beautiful! I wish I knew how to take screenshots at that time :)

  3. Dan Says:

My most memorable moment was entering the Mines of Moria for the first time and seeing the grandness of it. Still I’m amazed sometimes, running around in those immense caverns.

  4. Hobbit and Redhead Says:

@Hobbit – First time to cross the high moors and stare down at the last homely house — This is Middle Earth!

@Redhead – First day in Archet, climbing Browne’s Folly and realizing — This is Middle Earth!

  5. Hobbit and Redhead Says:

BTW … were we to win, we’d prefer the 3rd or 4th place prices over the 1st or 2nd! :)

  6. Frandoc Says:

The first time I did the Vol II Prologue instance when the Fellowship departs from Rivendell. I was so moved that there were tears in my eyes, and my toon waved goodbye to them until they vanished in the distance. I still get misty-eyed just remembering the moment.

  7. Zach Says:

My most memorable moment was racing the roofs of Bree with a friend who had never climbed on top of them before.

  8. Khrys Says:

I’ve only been playing since October 2009, so I’ve got a very limited collection of outstanding moments but there is one that happened two weeks into my gaming and has remained my favourite tale to tell non-LotRO folks.

I had finally gotten to a level on my Elf that I could learn crafting, and so I chose yeoman. Experimenting with farming, I was in the Shire when the regional channel came alive with someone asking in a very Hobbit-y way, “Honourary Sherriff checking in! How’s peace in the land?”
For the next fifteen minutes I was immersed in Middle Earth, farming the soil while listening to Hobbits, Sherriffs and Bounders advising on the latest chicken escapes and pie pilferings as well as local weather.

The next day I logged in to my Turbine account and bought three months worth of game time. Surpassing both the graphics and the music, the most captivating thing about LotRO is the people who play it.

  9. Shyn Darkly Says:

First glance of Rivendell … well worth the wait

  10. Ben Says:

Easily my most memorable moment in LotRO is this:
I made a small fellowship with 2 good mates and my little brother, and levelled our characters from level 1 together, all the way to 17 in one night.
Still one of my favourite memories of all time.

  12. Thurilond Says:

I’ve been playing since March ’08 and have had so many memorable moments. If I choose one to talk about, it would have to include a quest experience within Volume 1, book 5.

I took my hunter (65) and my girlfriend brought her warden (60) and we aided Gimli in finding and defeating Skorgrim Dourhand. This took place before the inspiration buff, so we really had to fight hard. We cleared the waves of dourhands until we reached Skorgrim. She charged the dourhand, tanked him and I filled the villian with arrows. The battle wasn’t easy and we were nearly defeated, but we pressed onward and defeated the dourhand while keeping the squishy Gimli alive!

  13. ModernCelt Says:

Having first read “The Hobbit” way back in the 7th grade, I have read everything for about and from Middle Earth I could ever get my hands on. One of my favorite scenes from “The Hobbit” was the Troll’s Campfire.

That being so, I was truly stunned to turn a bend while exploring the Trollshaws only to find three well worn, ivy covered statues surrounding an empty fire pit. It took me a few moments to realize what I had just stumbled upon.

Here, before me was the stone remains of Bilbo’s near fatal adventure with the Trolls. I frantically searched the surrounding area for the Troll’s cave, and there it was, mostly concealed by a large boulder.

Inadvertently, I had stumbled upon the remains of my favorite scene from “The Hobbit”. I was so excited I took screenshots, called my brothers, e-mailed pictures around to friends.

I will always remember the excitement I felt actually walking into such a special piece of Middle Earth lore.

  14. Eirien Says:

My most memorable moment had to be when I was fishing near Bree around dusk. The sun was setting, rays of amber light fading across the land. Stunning!

For a moment I was so lost in the scenery and felt as if I was actually in the game that I ended up thinking something like,”I better get back to town before it gets too dark, don’t want to be stuck out here at night!”

  15. Helegvir Says:

My most memorable moment was during the Elf-Prologue, when you realize that Edhelion is no more, that beautiful elven city, first sight of Middle-Earth is just ruins after Skorgrim’s attack.

  16. icbleu Says:

My most memorable moment in LoTRO so far was:

I had decided to blog about a to do list for turbine while i was in the middle of a ride to the shire. Imagine my surprise when I tabbed back in and discovered that I was being eaten alive at the stable master’s location by a stray boar. Lol, after I killed it, I added NOT BEING ATTACKED by wild boars at Stable Master locations to the list as well ;D

  17. Estelwing of Doriath Says:

My most memorable moment … it was on my first account, I was out on my hunter, Carathrandir in the moors. It was pretty late at night, so there were only a handful of people, very lax, some extremely drunk.

We just hopped around with some creeps at Gramsfoot for a little while, a couple of silly skirmishes and such. I remember, I took a screenshot of a couple of us standing on the big rock … and that screenie became the picture I used when I wrote an article on LotRO for my high school newspaper =D

  18. Braag of Vilya Says:

In my personal ‘Lore’, my first character Braag is the Son of Balin. In all of my adventures, my personal mission was to make it to Moria to discover the fate of my beloved Father. After many months of toil, I reached sufficient level to make it into Moria and eventually found the chamber of Marzabul, where I stood upon his tomb and wept. I then spoke alone into the darkness my vow to see his dreams of Moria’s Return to Glory fulfilled by Durin’s Beard of course…

  19. Emilio Says:

My favorite moment has to be when you are with Aragorn in the first Epic Book and the Nazgul are turning Amdir into one of them, i remember i said “Holy crap how the hell will i defeat 6 Nazgul?” and then Aragorn came with fire and he ran chasing the Nazgul. That was epic

  20. jose Says:

What is your most memorable moment in LOTRO?
My most memorable moments was when beta was live and how everyone enjoyed each other company, being jolly in bree town, when good lvl 15 weapons sold for 1G (WOW) and just adventuring everyday expecting something new and exciting.

  21. Thilandril Says:

Most memorable moment? Man, it’s hard to pick one out. Especially now that my wife and I have finally begun to explore Moria. I would have said it was discovering this huge terrarium-like space after we set up camp in the 21st hall and started poking around. And then yesterday we found the Waterworks.

Moria has been the source of a few missed appointments and a few 11pm dinners. It seems like every new place we explore is my new “Most Memorable Moment”!

  22. Zack Says:

For me, it was the first time I discovered the Party Tree and Bag End. I spent a long time walking around almost awe-struck.

  23. Felaros Says:

My most memorable moment would probably be the time that I met a friendly dwarf at the Ford of Bruinen on my way to Rivendell as a chicken even though I did die right before I made it.

  24. Tosaf Says:

Think the most memorable moment was vol 2 book 4 chpt 7 on my guard. With the minstral down after the first round. (one shot byt the squid in the first few minutes before I could get agro) and hitting less than 30 morale left. Having the watcher flee was a relief. with half the party down and the rest VERY squishy.

  25. Maddriel Says:

Watching the fellowship leave from Rivendell was the best moment of the game for me thus far. I also stood and waved and waved until they were out of sight. (but not before I took pictures of my character with everyone!)

  26. Igor Morgado Says:

At first time when I reach the Prancing Pony it was night, i was little scared, thinking if I could find the Nazgul there… In that time i was really immersed in all lotro atmosphere. Today still amazes me.. but was not like that first time.

  27. Vishala Says:

my most memorable moment in LOTRO was that first run through the Rift with the guild and actually killing the balrog. Having NO clue what was going to happen and blindly fumbling through anyway.

  28. Krysiel Silivren Says:

My most memorable moment was running the epic quests with my kin., Specifically, 1.5.8. Watching Thorog take flight was the first of many memorable kin moments.

  29. StevenMcD Says:

I was moving North of Haragmar in the Lonelands, picking off the dead around Nen Dlehu when I was surround by 5 Wights. Knowing that death would soon claim me I gave up hope and a great sense a dread descended upon me.

Just before the cold grip of death seized me, a Level 65 Hunter stepped in. He unleashed a barrage of mighty arrows that stopped the Wights in there tracks and saved me. ‘Twas a memorable moment indeed and a tale that has forever bound me to this game ;)

  30. Lisa Lyons Says:

There are so many moments of awe in Lotro… I could cite my first run to Weathertop at level 8! My champion decided he could handle it… so off he went, commenting on how the colour of each mob changed… grey, green, dark blue…

Orange… Red! PURPLE!!! OMG! He never ran as far as this in his life! But he got the mountain basil and got home in one piece!

However, the most memorable moment, ever, in the entire game is the first moment that I came through the gates of Imladris and laid eyes on the valley of Rivendell.

I sat in stunned silence for about five minutes, while my brain told the fan in me that I WAS in fact looking at Tolkein’s imagination brought to life… the fan in me? Was too busy making little SQUEE noises, while the rest of me sat in awed silence at the moment.

  31. Valandir Says:

my most memorable moment in LOTRO?

As said in the 3 greatest Achievments-Blogpost, it was completing Vol. 1 Book 8 Chapter 5 in it’s initial (pre Book 10) Version.
