Player Achievements

We are trying something new for the podcast this week to test it out and see if it is something people like. This, like so many good ideas, comes from listener Ordnance of Windfola and I think it will be really fun!

Each week a post like this one will be posted asking you to share your success in Middle Earth with the rest of the community. Post a comment letting us know what you’ve accomplished this past week. We will pick comments at random to read on the podcast giving you a chance for a little shout out for yourself!

Please keep your posts brief. We won’t be able to read full novels of your adventures but I think sharing and hearing what others are working on will be very interesting.

Do not be afraid to post any of your achievements. We don’t care if you just saved Archet or cleared out Dol Guldor. We want to hear from you!

Update: Commenting closed as episode 27 is now recorded. Look for the new Player Achievement post next friday to give us your big achievements for this week!

  1. Pjotr Says:

I only keep trophies of bosses which I found very diffcult to beat and/or when I have special memories associated with them.
This week, I finally managed to get the head of the Blind One, for which I was longing for a long time :-)

  2. ReDGryffyN Says:

As soon as my captain hit 45, I rode to the Walls of Moria and completed the 1st part of Book 1 to ge my 1st legendary, doing so levelled me to 45.5 and a few nice rewards as well. Already level 8 and will be done before I hit 46!

  3. Maxlin Says:

This week I tried Monsterplay for the first time.
I made my first steps as a creep 3 years ago, only a few minutes, when first playing LotRO.
This time I played a few hours each evening, and really enjoyed the journey.
Fresh air, challenge, pressure, solidarity among the creeps, all this made a very pleasant LotRO-week for me :)

I still have so many things to achieve with my regular freeps that I won’t spend that much time playing creep until I’m done.
Monsterplay really entertained me, and it fulfills my heart with anticipated pleasure to see how LotRO is likely to bring me fun for still many monthes & years ^^

  4. Adam (Elgalandir in game) Says:

    Hey guys,
Its not so much of an achievement as an achievement to even attempt! My wife and I were pretty proud anyway. Our European kinship- Heroes of Eriador (on Eldar server) attempted the Watcher in the Water raid over a couple of nights early this week. My wife plays a dwarf girl tank (Azbarak) who wears exclusively purple armour (even Tolkien says they have beards and can’t be told apart from men dwarfs, and we wouldn’t argue with her- she looks pretty mean) and I am a man champion (El-Galandir).

We all did great for a 90% casual mature group, who originate from all over europe, and got the first two phases out of the way, and settled into the final section of beating down his tentacles to stop healing, and beating the snot out of the watcher. After a few attempts we got the hang of it, but didn’t quite manage to down him. O.k, O.k, we may not have kicked his ass, but to us as a casual group, with children and families (and for me and my wife one due any day); even being in there at all- with us all having enough radiance, and time to have a go was enough of a success story. We had a great time and even though we have a few more events coming up in the next few weeks, when we get those are out of the way we hope to get back into the Vile Maw, a show that squid we were serious!

    Love the show guys,
    Adam

  5. Poinky Says:

I got my Minstrel to lvl 50, after which I thought, “Now What?”. Quest log is full, and I need rep items, class items, waiting for vol 1 to become soloable, have to start skirmishing since that seems to be required for later epic quests , and then there’s that whole Moria thing and getting into legendary items…

So I went and got a Warden alt to lvl 15 . Altoholic and Warden – I’m going to be just like Merric (ie. awesome) .

  6. Heiko Says:

I recreated my hobbit burglar Falobrand this week and I managed to get the undying title with him! Really liked playing in the Shire and now doing Bree quests. Lots of fun!

  7. Stormwaltz Says:

After taking months off the Gold Leaf grind to enjoy Mirkwood and Skirmishes, I finally had enough to buy a Galadhrim Horse for my Lore-Master, Mayda.

Also this week, I got all my Skirmish traits up to tier 16 (level 65). My red-haired, pigtailed hobbit lass Protector is now quite the badass little tank. ^_^

Oh! And I finally let my pre-Mirkwood Second Age Staff cap at 60. I applied a couple Scrolls of Empowerment, so it all Tier 6 legacies. I should look into getting one of those Scrolls of Delving, so I can bring it up to level 70.

Now that I think about it, this was an eventful week. I should probably blog about it or something.

  8. Ketani Says:

I managed to get both the Bree and Malledhrim rep horses for my hunter. I also earned a new title for my lore-master. She is now proudly running around as “Sortof Foolish, The Unwise”.

  9. Moramoth Says:

Some kinmates and I slayed the Watcher in the 12-man Vile Maw instance – it was an epic fight that I will never forget.

I was awarded with a token that I bartered for an “Ominous Pool” that is sitting in my front yard, waiting for unsuspecting visitors.

  10. Arumath Says:

I took my hobbit warden Eldane from 17 to 21 this week and survived a harrowing battle with at least six mobs beating on him at once!

My Lore master finally mastered tier 3 of Scholar. It only took a few days of sparadic farming of the lone lands for matts and most of her silver for phials and athelas leaves!

  11. Harperella Says:

I managed to get my loremaster, Harperiel, up to level 40 and have completed all of her non-combat class traits. That bear is _extremely_ disease-free, healed, and powered up. Not to mention covered in leeches. Hurray for leveling up non-combat skill traits on our pets!

  12. KappoRDM Says:

I dinged 28 on my Hunter last night, aiming for 30 tonight. I completed the tailoring quest, “The Thickest of Skins, Part II” to open up the expert tier of Tailoring. Lastly, I completed Volume I Book I. Ole Tom Bombadil is the man.

  13. Dreadhed Says:

Although I have only attempted it about 5 times (well multiple attempts each time). I finally was on a successfull turtle run.

  14. Callist Says:

Semi completed my outfit of skirmish cosmetics, some of those campaign marks take a while to get.

Also helped a kinmate finish one of the book quests in moria, the one with the balrog (not sure which one that is). Never completed that one before and it was quite fun.

  15. Urailas Says:

My biggest accomplishment of the week had to be running a couple of kinmates through Carn Dum to get their class quest items. They are a husband and wife who duo a lot and think it is too much of a burden to ask for help (that’s why they are level 56 and not done the class quests!). So four of us dropped what we were doing and forced them into a fellowship!

We essentially did a full clear, except for Mordirith (ran out of time). Even though we had the keys and could have skipped a lot, one of them had never been in CD, and it’s hard to pass up Helchgam!

Happy to report, one of the two is finished their class quests while the other just needs a Sigil of War from Uru. Guess I know what next week will bring ;)

  16. Welby Says:

Post a comment letting us know what you’ve accomplished this past week:

I reassigned my LI points and killed some Swamp Cats in Mirkwood.
Got a Guard alt to finish the new LL stuff up to GA.

oh..and finished about 10 FX shots of a Lotro machinima.
    :p

  17. Thilandril Says:

After almost 10 years in Norrath (split between EverQuest 1 and 2), I felt as though I had seen most of what I was likely to see and I was looking for something new. I had gotten a taste of LotRO during the beta, but at the time I couldn’t imagine leaving EQ2. I just wasn’t ready.

The promise of visiting Moria in Turbine’s new LotRO expansion came at just the right time. I pre-ordered 2 copies of Mines of Moria (initially as a “now-and-then” 2nd game), and rarely logged into EQ2 from then until I finally canceled my subscription. (I’m not bashing EverQuest or SOE…I loved playing, but anything you do practically every day for 10 years is eventually going to lose a bit of its luster.)

It took me a bit longer to convince my wife to leave her beloved stable of characters, and her comfort zone, but eventually she gave LotRO a try. After a few false starts, she begrudingly backed down from her longstanding “no shorties” stance and created her hobbit guardian, Ahnara Pudgebottom. And the rest, as they say, is history. She fell in love with Ahnara and the Shire. So early last year Ahnara and her minstrel sidekick Rollie Grubbyfoot (that’s me!) set out to explore Middle Earth.

One of the many reasons I am so fond of the CStM site and podcast is that it really resonates with our playstyle. We’ve never been in much of a rush to level or whatever. We can usually only play on the weekends, and tend to fall into the “explorer” category most of the time. We’ve just been enjoying the adventure.

Anyway, this past weekend (after my wife finally logged off in frustration) I pried my last page for my last legendary trait from the cold, dead fingers of the last page-hoarding angmarim scout in Forochel(/snarl). The next morning we were running errands for the elves of Gwingris in Eregion!

After so long, Moria is right around the corner!! WOOOHOOO!!!

  18. SeanMc74 Says:

Got the undying title on my Hobbit Warden. He is alt number 8 and the first to get the title.

  19. Aelgerion Says:

I’ve been leveling up my farming and cooking skills to finally achieve mastery at the “expert” level. I think Goldenstar mentioned how farming was very relaxing…I’d have to agree as I fell asleep a couple of times in between and lost some seed planting! lol.

Aside from that, I just realized that my Champion is level 26 and I still haven’t died yet….woo!! First Undying title!

  20. LOTRO_Fanatik Says:

Hello Merric and Goldenstar! And hello fellow CStM fans! My player achievement for the week was hitting Rank 4 on my Defiler. I’m shooting for Rank 5 next week depending upon if I can get in the right raid from day to day. This is my fourth Creep to get Rank 4 or above and I really enjoy playing the support healing and rezzes while in group. The Vilya Moors have been hopping as of late and PvMP is always a great distraction to questing and leveling on my Freeps.

Love the site, articles, and podcast! Keep up the great work!

  21. Zhaan Says:

Been a good week for achievements. Xhaan, 62 minstrel finished Moria and finally got to see the sun again and start Mirkwood. She also made Supreme Master cook & Jeweler and got Kindred with Rivendell and the Mathom society. My other character, Xaandal, 52 LM made Supreme Master Scholar and also got Kindred with Rivendell.

  22. RannaDylin Says:

My Hobbit Burglar, Vanita, finally completed the quest to move on from Artisan to Master Jeweller. She ran into that obstacle when at level 23, so she’s been leveling like crazy to reach the point where she could make it to Angmar to pick up the sapphire the quest called for. Finally managed it at level 36! Now to do the same for the Cooking mastery quest!
