I’m really excited about this interview and can’t wait to listen to how it goes! My question:
Critics and player alike feel that LOTRO is lacking in the PvP department. Has the option of using Skirmishes as a growing point for PvMP been explored?
January 27, 2010 at 6:33 pm
Will there be a path to radiance gear via skirmishes?
January 27, 2010 at 7:06 pm
Are there plans for PvMP skirmishes?
January 27, 2010 at 7:31 pm
I know they don’t want soldiers to be as full-featured as pets, but any chance of at least adding a fall-back/retreat option?
There’s nothing worse that watching your soldier go haring-off after the one mob you’re not worried about while your squishy butt is getting pounded into goo … especially when their attack-target skill is on cool-down.

I know that soldiers use less detailed models from players, but would it be possible to get more options to make your soldier look like your alts? Since all of our alts on a server live together, it would be kind of cool to imagine them helping each other out in battle.

Should repairs from rezing in a skirmish be as high as regular PvE play? I don’t relish the idea of a 300s bill after getting pounded in a skirm. Or am I just whining?
January 28, 2010 at 3:29 am
Narnian, have you experienced this recently? The patch last week was supposed to reduce the repair costs resulting from a skirmish for exactly the reason you name.

How much priority do the bugs in the old instances have ? like the one in barad gularan:
http://forums.lotro.com/showthread.php?t=302152
I think its a poor situation that nobody is looking after this problems from the developer, just because it’s “old” content. There are a lot of people who like to play the “old” instances

For wich event in the books are you most excited to make it to a skirmish?
January 28, 2010 at 7:50 am
Is this it? Will there be more items to purchase and more skirmishes added later?
January 28, 2010 at 7:54 am
Would it be possible to get a flag for our soldiers, ala Guild Wars henchmen/heroes, to tell them to basically stay in an area? I really dislike my soldier following me in Protectors of Thangulhad to the ballistas and then getting stuck on the ramparts while me and the elf are fighting below.

Are there any plans to adapt the Soldier Skirmish System (Traits, Skills, Bonuses and Appearance) to the current LI system?
It just seems that the Skirmish Soldier UI and Trait system is everything that a Legendary Item should be:
- Grows with you (no more trashing your personal weapon for the next best thing as you gain levels)
- Customizable with slew of traits that would adjust do different situations without having to carry around 6 different LI’s: Just go to a Skirmish Bard and change your traits and you have something completely new.

Great Idea!

I’m mostly wondering if there are any plans to have skirmish bounty items become kind of like gold… as in, they don’t need space in your pack. It eats up a lot of room!
Other than that, good job guys!
January 28, 2010 at 7:46 pm
Another great idea! I have heard this mentioned by other as well, all the new skirmish marks take up alot of bag space. I would suggest barter coins and gold leaves and stars, etc could also be added to the character tab.

First, congrats guys on getting this interview! Can’t wait to hear the podcast.
My question is:
Is there any possibility of taking the scalability function, with regards to difficulty, class level, and potentially size of group, from skirmishes and applying this to existing and/or future group instances and raids?
January 28, 2010 at 2:27 pm
BIG Thumbs up, guys, on Skirmishes!
But, to be honest, I am kind of bored with them already. Any chance on adding more skirmishes to choose from?
Also, I am a very experienced player, but the difficulty levels seem to be unreasonably high. . .any chance to reduce them a bit? Right now, for many, choosing anything above the lowest difficulty is nearly suicide.
Thanks!

1)Would it be possible to have the crafted relic for Legendaries not BOA, so that non crafters can still have top level relics in their weapons? Instead they could be bought and sold like other crafted gear?
2) Any thought to making the the drop for the 2nd age barter item in SG similar to the coin system for armor, so that aquiring the peice is not just reliant on luck?
January 29, 2010 at 8:33 am
Galahadur, that’s such a great idea!
My question:
Would you please consider creating a two player Skirmish option for couples?
January 30, 2010 at 12:19 pm
Loving the skirmishes; they’re a really excellent addition to the game.
My question is could you add more variety to the mob reaction to taking control points? Counterattacks are very predictable to me even with the change in mob captain types. Would love to see more variance in IF and WHEN for those.
