December 17, 2009

Events, LOTRO News, Turbine

This contest is over. See this post to view the winners of the Adventurer’s Packs! Thank you to everyone who entered!

LOTRO Adventurer's Pack We have a contest!!! The wonderful folks from Turbine are giving us 2 Adventurer’s Packs that was featured with the latest expansion, Siege of Mirkwood, to give away to our readers/listeners. This will grant your account the shared storage as well as the two extra character slots!

Update 12/22: Turbine has informed us that these are not just any Adventurer Packs but Pre-Order packs. That means that in addition to the shared storage and 2 extra slots you will also receive the harbinger’s cloak and the goat mount!

How to Enter

There are three ways you can enter to win these items.

  1. Leave a comment on this blog post answering this question:
What do you love the most about the new and improved Yule Festival?
  2. Follow us on twitter (http://www.twitter.com/strolltomordor) and tweet this exact phrase:
Win an Adventurer’s Pack from @strolltomordor and @turbine. Please RT. Details here: http://bit.ly/6Z0PVG #cstmAP #lotro
  3. Link to this post on your Kin Forums or mention it on your blog. Then leave a comment here listing where your link was posted. We have to be able to verify the link exists for your entry to count so if you don’t show us where it’s linked, you won’t be entered!

Presents You can do each of these three entries only once. While we appreciate you leaving multiple comments or re-tweeting often, you can only earn one entry per option listed above. Multiple comments/tweets will not increase your odds but it won’t disqualify you either.

If you are already following us on Twitter, you do not need to unfollow and re-follow us. Just tweet the phrase above and you’ll be entered to win. This contest is open to all twitter followers, new and old.

This contest is open until January 5, 2009 at 5:00 p.m. EST. Entries received after this cutoff time will be discarded.

Contest Details

Winners will be compiled into a spreadsheet and entries numbered. Winners will be drawn using http://www.random.org/ random number generator. Winners will be contacted via email (or a direct message in twitter).

The Adventurer Pack keys are for Turbine LOTRO accounts only. Europeans looking for fun contests should check out the giveaway Codemasters is hosting!

The Mines of Moria expansion must be enabled on the account at the very least for the code to work.  Siege of Mirkwood expansion is not required for the Adventurer Pack. Shadows of Angmar alone will not accept the code.

What do you love the most about the new and improved Yule Festival?

I love the new horse race! It’s a challenge, but against your own skill rather than the luck of latency. The new cosmetics and beer fight are a close one too :D

  2. Tarmothion Says:

What do you love the most about the new and improved Yule Festival?

I absolutely love the beer fight! Its a nice new fun addition. Also, the improved horse races are excellent!

What do you love the most about the new and improved Yule Festival?

Gotta be the beer fight, i spent an entire evening flying around the beer hall giggling like a school-girl.

  4. Aaron Says:

The peace of mind that when I start questing in Forochel / Misty Mountains I will look appropriately dressed :)

  10. Tim Says:

For sure the new cosmetics! Great looking new gear (and not bound so I can share them with everyone in my family only vanity kin!)

  11. pleadguitar Says:

the beer fight is awesome and I love the new cosmetics.

  12. Michael S. Says:

Without a doubt it is the return of the horse races that WORK properly with the new mount system along with the snazzy new racetracks. Nothing out there like it in another MMO.

  13. Jeff Says:

I like the beer fight the best. It is fun to be able to knock people around without really hurting them. And it is cool that you can fly across the room.

  14. Heather Says:

I really like the cosmetics and the gifts that you can get from bartering tokens. They are a great addition to any house or wardobe!

  15. Nicolas Says:

I like the snow horse. They are awesome!!!! :-)

  16. Stephen H Says:

What do you love the most about the new and improved Yule Festival?
The barfight of course! I really like the cosmetic items as well, but the barfight is so much fun and the titles that go with it are also a plus.
I have to mention the horse race, too. It’s even more challenging than the drunken fence run in Brockenbrorings.
    Storiodoc Bucktrotter, Fool

  17. LOTROBaseJumper Says:

What do you love the most about the new and improved Yule Festival?

Got to be the new mounts and the beer fight (clubbing 200 people for a title – great idea!)

  18. Davolas of Firefoot Says:

What do you love the most about the new and improved Yule Festival?

I particularly like the new “snow dusted travelling hat” as I actually own a hat that looks very similar to it in real life.

the new horse race is nice too.

  19. Celeodor of Windfola Says:

What do you love the most about the new and improved Yule Festival?

My favorites are the items occupying my cosmetic slots! I was searching long and hard for that perfect look for my Rune-Keeper, and Turbine put them right in front of me! Not to be overlooked, however, are the methods of getting the coins. The beer fight was some of the greatest fun I had in days.

  20. Craran of Landroval Says:

What do you love the most about the new and improved Yule Festival?

    The Beer Fight FTW!!!!!!

  21. Harumor Says:

While I love that the devs, at long last, got horse racing to work, I have to say…
    BEER FIGHTS FTW!!

  22. James Says:

The thing I like best of course BEER FIGHT

  23. jayden Says:

What do you love the most about the new and improved Yule Festival?

Its great because its nice to have some fun with BEER fights! i really love the decorations and BEER fights but horse races are an other fun part.

  24. Ryee Whiskee Says:

What do you love the most about the new and improved Yule Festival?

  25. luggie Says:

i love the beer fight allot of fun knocking each other around and trying to get 200 hits and 25 wins for the titles love it. it was allot of fun was not able to do the horse race but wanted to since im only lvl 14 atm on my curent server i restarted.

  26. Reached Says:

What do you love the most about the new and improved Yule Festival?

    The beer fight!

Safe good fun involving beer. Perfect past time :)

Great podcast and site, just got turned onto it via Syp.

    Reached – Runic Knights, Brandywine.

  27. Rhonda Says:

What do you love the most about the new and improved Yule Festival?

Wow, it’s a toss up between the beer fight and the new race course, I’ll opt for beer fight. The challenge is fun and the story is great. I whack my friends and steal the beer. What could be more fun!

  28. Tanek Says:

What do you love the most about the new and improved Yule Festival?

For me, the Glorious Beer-fight is the most fun/amusing festival event I have seen. It has some pretty good competition for favorite part of the festival, though, if you add in the new cosmetic outfits. The cloaks especially are wonderful.

So I’ll cheat a bit and say my favorite event is the beer-fight and my favorite items are the new cloaks. :)

  30. Gwuinifer Says:

Cosmetics! Overall- it just seemed like a great new update. Turbine always takes such good care of their players! The fixed horse races are nice too now that it’s easier to have more than one mount!

  31. Gribb Says:

I absolutely LOVED the beer brawl. I had so much fun with my kin playing “Bounce the Dwarf”. What a great way to get Inn League Rep also. I wish it was a year around event.

    Gribb – Elendilmir

  32. Ben Says:

What do you love the most about the new and improved Yule Festival?
the beer brawl has to be the best

  33. Hillarie Says:

I definitely liked the cosmetics; the snow detailing is awesome! I also really enjoyed the Shire Yule quests. Serving Lobelia those papers was a hoot!
Also, the Yule horses were beautiful, and the races were very fun.

  34. vw Says:

    Beer fight FTW!

  35. Galahadur Says:

What do you love the most about the new and improved Yule Festival?

Clobering those drunken hunters. Getting some payback from breaking my mezzes <.<

P.S. If i do win, i want to offer the pack to a friend of mine since i alrady have one.

Happy new year Merr and Gold!

  36. JemjinOraho Says:

  38. Balthinor Says:

This years Yule festival is all around awesome. My favorite parts though are 1) the changes to the horse race and 2) the ability to toss dwarves and hobbits in the beer fight. What an awesome mini-game!

  39. Mynastari Says:

What do you love the most about the new and improved Yule Festival?

I played last year about this time for a little over a month. I am now returning after a heavy diet of WoW, EQII, and AION. LOTR has my heart is seems as I am now a one game woman.

The Yule festival’s addition of the beer fights was my favorite new part. Why? Because it allowed my very good friend to do it over and over and over to get me nice gift packs. I also like flying around the room. And the beer.

*crosses fingers for adventurer pack and cool mount*
Thanks guys for your blog and lovely podcast! Giving me my LOTRO fix in a couple of ways!
